Editing is eternal, and other stories
Why is it that every time I read through a book I have edited until my eyes bleed, I find another typo/error?
DO THEY BREED IN THE DARK?
I think I'm finally done on these edits though. I mean, life being what it is, something has probably slipped through or been added in the layout process because it is the will of Thoth, to ensure no writer ever becomes consumed by their own ego. But, yeah, pretty much done?
Here's hoping.
It's amazing the errors that squeak through onscreen, but are glaringly obvious when you go through the print proofs.
So, looks like we are moving into the final final final stages of the process, and all is good for a December release.
*dances*
I'm hoping to go skating tomorrow (despite the rink restriction on spins and jumps on public ice.) I can at least practice my prelim dances. Being basically adhd and dyspraxic has made learning routines and dances something of a pain in the arse, but learning them also helps me. I'm at the point where I can often tell my right from my left after a few seconds. The delay is frustrating but definitely better than it was.
The three prelim dances I need to know are Prelim Waltz, Canasta Tango, and Rhythm and Blues. I have learned all of them, but forgotten them because unless I do something daily it slips out of my head. And it's been about seven months of not dancing so...
I've also restarted weight training (after many years of well...not) and I'm so glad I am. I can't do back squats because I don't have a squat rack, but I'm doing front and Zercher squats for now. It means less weight, and more emphasis on quads, but it also means I have no choice but to go to full depth, and I can't cheat them, so that's good.
A while back I introduced the Younger Spawn to Supernatural, and she is now obsessed, so clearly a child after my own dark heart. Her shipping of Dean and Cas knows no bounds. <3
We are nearly done with the prior seasons, so hopefully we'll be able to start Season 15 in real time soon enough, so until then, no spoilers, kittens
In new project news, I have not worked on the Chancy Kitty novel. I don't know why, I'm just really not feeling it. And maybe I never will. It might be I'll have to chalk that one up as a beautiful failure. What I really want to do is fix the great big weird gay House book, which is currently a shapeless mess, but tbh, I don't know how. I need a guiding hand. But, since none seem to be available at present, I should make a plan of action.
I need to edit it the way I would I client's work, which is really hard to do with your own stuff. So, I'm going to set that out for myself, and dust off some old tricks for content editing your own novels.
If you have any tips to share, go for it!
